Rendezvous with Delhi

The Christmas lunch hosted by Devi and Dilip Cherian was a grand affair. Everybody who’s somebody was here.
No wonder their presence led to a traffic jam near the venue too! After all, the VIPs and VVIPs arrived with their special security. From politicos to corporate czars, media moguls to designers, everyone enjoyed a sunny afternoon over exotic wines and delectable snacks.Jyotiraditya Scindia came along with his children, Aryaman and Ananya Scindia. Vikramaditya Singh also came in with his children, Mian Martanday Singh and Mriganka Devi. Later, his wife Chitrangada Singh joined them.
INDIAN GLORY? When we congratulated sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan for his Grammy nomination, he said, “It’s an honour. But, this time again the record label is American. I feel Indian record companies should take an initiative now.” Subhalakshmi Khan, his wife, pitched in, “It saddens me to see the way Indian artistes are treated here. They’ve received recognition worldwide and it’s time that Indian authorities recognise them too.”
ONLY FOR A SHORT WHILE: Sophia, daughter of Ghulam Nabi Azad made a blink-and-you-miss it appearance. In fact, many guests arrived when the do was in its last leg. Shallu and Naveen Jindal too made a late entry. Shallu wore a bright red overcoat. Quite in the Christmas spirit, we say. She was also wearing a brooch with the Indian flag on it. “I think it’s going well with my coat,” she said. Itna hi nahi, when the hosts were bidding goodbye to the guests, we saw Praful Patel and Peter Punj coming in.
